How to Ask for Business on Facebook, Twitter

This morning while surfing the internet, I came across this article on Entrepreneur.com.  The part that stood out the most was – “People will respect you if you respect yourself and the value of your experience and advice by adhering to this 3/3 boundary formula.

As you are meeting new people online, having conversations, posting, building exposure and handling new opportunities daily via social media, you are going to have to draw the line at some point with the back and forth, also known as time wasters.

If someone is continually asking for your advice, free product, tips and so forth, respond no more than three times, spending a maximum of three minutes each time, before you ask for the business. If the contact does not respond or decides to not do business with you, there is no need to offer additional expert advice and/or tips and guidance for free.   People will respect you if you respect yourself and the value of your experience and advice by adhering to this 3/3 boundary formula.  If you spend even a few hours every week going back and forth with the same person who is never going to do business with you, then you might need to keep your day job.

  1. Prepare. Work hard to be ready for the opportunities that are important to you. Research. Practice. Perfect.
  2. Be awake. Pay attention to the people, events, and things around you. Evaluate logically and trust your gut instinct.
  3. Take action. Put yourself out there. Explore. Be vulnerable. Make contact with people. Take risks.
  4. Expect positive results. Optimism improves your chances. If (when) you fail, embrace the lesson and continue on, smarter.

Learn how to create a marketing persona for your customers.

Which is better? Hoping that the cute guy will notice you across the crowded room and ask you to coffee? Or going up to the cute guy and asking them if they’d like to join you for coffee?  I can tell you that 9 times out of 10 you’ll have a coffee date if you approach the other person.
Landing pages are the same way! Why wouldn’t you give your company the opportunity to “date” more people?

 

Here are some questions to consider when crafting a marketing persona:
  • What gender is your customer?
  • What is the customer’s age bracket?
  • What industry is your customer in?
  • What is your customer’s job function?
  • What kind of educational background do they have?
  • What activities outside work does your customer participate in?
  • What geographic region does your customer come from?
  • How does your customer dress?
  • What does your customer’s day usually look like?
  • Does your customer have children?
  • What is your customer’s most pressing concern at work/home?

10 Tips For Using Keywords on Your Website

You’ve heard that keywords are an important part of online marketing but your not sure how to go about using keywords on your website.

Here’s some tips for you:

  1. Use a keyword research tool like Word Tracker to find the most appropriate words for your site.
  2. Your keyword list should be about 20-30 words long.
  3. Use short (2 words) and long (3-5 words) keywords.
  4. Use long tail words. They’re not as in demand as short words but they are easier to rank with search engines, since there’s less competition.
  5. Once you’ve developed your list, take each keyword and write an blog post or article on it. When writing your article don’t make the focus of your article be on the keyword, just make sure the article your writing is about the term.
  6. When possible, find a way to work your keyword into your blog post/article title.
  7. Use keywords in the body of your blog post/article and in the resource box of the article. (Note: Make it sound as natural as possible)
  8. Don’t overload your blog post/article with your keyword. Search engines frown on this. Most publishers use density tools to see if your using the keyword to much. Density limits vary by publisher.
  9. Go back over your complete list and write an article on them. Don’t put all of your keywords in one article.
  10. Remember: Article marketing is a long term marketing tool and since you will have many articles to write, theirs no need force it all in one.
